In 1995, Franks played a prominent role in an offense which shattered UF and SEC records. The Gator offense set SEC records for most yards (6,413), most points (534) and most touchdowns (73), and ranked fourth in the nation in total offense. In addition, UF backs averaged 5.6 yards per carry and registered 24 rushing touchdowns in 1995, the second-best mark in school history. Tailback Elijah Williams set a school record with 7.5 yards per carry (minimum 100 carries).
The 1994 Gator defense, in which he served as inside linebackers coach, set a UF record by allowing just 84.6 yards rushing per game, fifth-best in the nation. Florida also allowed just 17.1 points per game, which was 16th-best nationally.
As recruiting coordinator from 1991-93, he coordinated the nation's top recruiting class in 1992, according to Super Prep and Blue Chip Report. The incoming classes of '93 and '94 were also highly regarded, both ranking in the nation's top 10.
As an offensive coach from 1990-93, Florida ranked among the nation's top-10 teams in total offense in three of those four years (10th in 1990, ninth in 1991 and seventh in 1993) and top-10 in passing in all four seasons.
